OVERVIEW - Please Read Carefully

The Lonnie Winston Memorial Scholarship (LWMS) is proud to assist deserving student athletes enrolled at Southeastern Community College (SCC). In partnership with All Pono, it is our mission to honor Lonnie’s legacy by providing academic and athletic opportunities to Southeastern Community baseball players through his memorial scholarship fund.

Funding is provided through the generosity of local businesses, community leaders, professional associations, family, and friends. Awards are processed through SCC and credited towards the recipient’s tuition, room & board (meal plan) and supplies. Funds are not awarded to the student directly.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

* One (1) $2500 scholarship will be awarded to a freshman or sophomore.
* One (1) $1500 scholarship will be awarded to a freshman or sophomore.
* One (1) $1000 scholarship will be awarded to a freshman or sophomore.
Note: The scholarships will be distributed evenly during the fall and spring terms.

The Scholarship Committee determines award recipients. Each scholarship winner will be required to attend and/or participate in all Lonnie Winston Memorial Scholarship fundraising events. If you withdraw from SCC or fail to meet the requirements, you are required to return all funding to SCC and the LWMS program.

ELIGIBILITY / SELECTION CRITERIA

* All applicants must complete the application and provide all required documents by the application deadline: March 15, 2026.

* Academics
- Applicants must achieve a minimum of a 3.2 cumulative GPA.

* Short Essay
- “What does this scholarship mean to you and how would you best
represent the integrity of the scholarship?”

* Excellence Off the Field - Community Involvement.

* 2 Letters of Recommendation (Must be received no later than March 20, 2026)
- Excellence on the Field – Current Coach
- Excellence in the Classroom - Academic Advisor/Counselor
- All letters of recommendation are done online through the application.
Hard copies or email copies are not accepted. You will need the full name
and email address of the person(s) who will write your Letters of
Recommendation.
The person(s) that you list as a reference will receive an email request
from lonniewinstonscholarship@gmail.com.
Do not wait for letters of recommendation before submitting your application.
